Most people know a Gary, but the name has fallen out of favour with parents over recent years.
Yet despite warnings the name was on the verge of extinction, it seems it could well be making a comeback.
As well as listing the top 100 baby names for boys and girls in 2022, UK Baby Names has shared a list of trending monikers - and it just so happens that Gary is on the list.

Alongside it sit a number of traditional boys' names including James, David, John, Ian, Oliver, Jack, Andrew, Peter, William, Thomas, Matthew and Paul.
While for girls it says the trending names are Emma, Sarah and Olivia.
They may not all appear in the top 100, but the fact that Gary even gets a mention signals fresh hope that it may not vanish from usage after all.
