‘Most of my family members are Republican’: Grandma of Charlie Kirk murder suspect says he has slim chance of being a Democrat

Donald Trump and his supporters’ response to the Charlie Kirk killing has been unified: vilify the left and blame them wholeheartedly for the tragic event. But as more details about the main suspect for the killing keep coming out, the likelihood of him being a staunch progressive becomes less and less likely. The suspect’s own grandmother remains unconvinced that their family has any Democrat.

Trump and his cohorts have already been beating the drums of a “war” in the aftermath of Kirk’s death. But there was always a rarely discussed element about the entire scenario, which is that a majority of the alarmists had no idea what the identity of the killer was, much less his politics. Because Kirk made a career of offending the sensibilities of progressives, the assumption was simply that his killer had to be a radical left-leaning individual.

To be fair to the MAGA base, this assumption was emboldened by individuals who tried to spin Kirk’s death as something other than horrific. But the fact remained that nobody knew what actually motivated his killing. Even now, though we might know that the main suspect is Tyler Robinson, little information about why someone would do such a thing has been discovered or at least officially revealed as of this moment. But Tyler’s grandmother has serious doubts that he is, in fact, a Democrat.

Tyler is 22 years old and has reportedly participated in two elections, but as an unaffiliated voter. His grandmother, however, told Daily Mail, “My son, his dad, is a Republican for Trump. Most of my family members are Republican. I don’t know any single one who’s a Democrat.” Tyler’s grandmother was just astonished that Tyler would ever get himself involved in such a horrific act and told the publication that before this he never even got into any trouble.

The Daily Beast also released Facebook posts revealing that Robinson’s parents are proud gun owners and even encouraged their children to train on how to use guns. That being said, it’s still not confirmed what Tyler’s personal beliefs were.

Utah Governor Spencer Cox made the claim in a press conference that over the last couple of years Tyler had been getting more political and his family reportedly noticed. Cox said, “The family member referenced a recent incident in which Robinson came to dinner prior to September 10th, and in the conversation with another family member, Robinson mentioned Charlie Kirk was coming to UVU. They talked about why they didn’t like him and the viewpoints that he had.”

Tyler’s grandmother, however, maintains that Tyler was never that political. Investigations are clearly still ongoing and there are no facts regarding why he would murder a man for debating on college campuses throughout the country. The only thing that is confirmed now is that Tyler was identified by his father, who then called a church minister, who in turn called the U.S. Marshals on him. Trump might be turning political rhetoric around Kirk’s death into a debate about whether Democrats are actually more evil, but the fact remains nobody knows at this time what led Tyler to allegedly fire that weapon. And Trump seems more worried about his ballroom anyway.

Patience is greatly advised in this situation. Coming to conclusions before facts present themselves doesn’t serve anyone.
