Morrisons starts charging for air at petrol stations - where you can get it free

Drivers looking to top up their tyre pressures at Morrisons might be in for a surprise, after the supermarket scrapped its "free air" deal.

Previously, as long as you spent at least £15 on fuel, you got a voucher letting you use the air free.

Now, everyone will have to pay whether they buy any fuel or not.

But there is some good news for people who didn't get the voucher before, with the price of air at the supermarket dropping from 20p a minute to 10p.

A Morrisons spokesperson told MoneySavingExpert.com said: "We have installed new air machines across all of our petrol stations.

"To offer lower cost air to all of our customers we've introduced a 10p minimum vend which we believe is the cheapest in the industry."

The new price is lower than Tesco's (50p a minute) and Asda's (20p a go), but it's not the cheapest.

That's because you can use the air machines at Sainsbury's forecourts free.

And there's a cheap option for people without an easily located Sainsbury's petrol station too - with portable air compressors you can keep in your car costing from about £10 .
