Mormon Wives’ Zac Affleck Says He Was ‘Tricked’ Into Baby After Jen Ditched Her IUD

If you thought your family group chat was a bit much, spare a thought for Zac and Jen Affleck from The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. The couple — who are basically the poster kids for “it’s complicated” — just spilled some seriously personal tea on The Viall Files podcast.

Zac, 28, revealed that the arrival of their second child, Lucas, was a bit of a surprise. “Jen — like, six months after she gave birth—she got pregnant again with her second baby,” Zac began.

“I got tricked into it.”

He explained that Jen took out her IUD without telling him. Jen, 25, didn’t exactly deny it, instead offering a simple “whoopsies” when the topic came up.

“IDK but the IUD being removed with no communication sounds…off. Roles reversed, the guy would be just as creepy to me…” said one user on YouTube.

“WTF, he says she took out her IUD without telling him and everyone just laughs. WTF,” said another.

Although she may not have been entirely honest about her second pregnancy, Jen has been upfront about the fact that their third pregnancy — yes, she’s currently expecting again — was a surprise to both of them.

In a February chat with PEOPLE, Jen explained, “While it was a surprise, we both had a feeling there was another baby waiting for us. We were very excited. There were a lot of emotions after a crazy year.”

The Afflecks have had a rough trot lately: a Chippendales scandal, a separation, ketamine couples therapy, and some very public conversations about mental health.

Jen told PEOPLE in May 2025, “Zac and I can’t run away from Chippendales apparently, but hey, we’ve seen the light at the end of the tunnel… We’ve taken some trips to Chippendales now, so now it’s something that we laugh about. Obviously it’s still traumatising to think about actually what we went through regarding Chippendales. Can’t seem to run away from it.”

The couple, who married in 2019 after meeting in college, have been open about the ups and downs of their relationship, including a brief separation between filming the first two seasons of their Disney+ reality series.

Jen told The Viall Files that she reached a point where she was ready to walk away: “I basically told him when I was in a place where I want to walk away from the relationship, ‘I’m doing this. This is what I feel right about. You can come along with me. You can support me in this or you can walk away.’ I was not opposed to divorce. I was truly doing what I felt was right. Because of that, I feel like our relationship has never been stronger because I have found my voice and I’m still in the process of that.”

Despite all the drama, Jen says she has no regrets about sharing their story on TV. “Hopefully people within the Mormon culture can look at our relationship and reflect on theirs and say like, ‘Hey, I think we kind of struggle with that too,’” she explained.

“Or, ‘Maybe my husband has fed into the patriarchy and isn’t treating me right.’ I want to be an example of that. People aren’t going to like that, unfortunately.”

As for the new baby, Jen’s got a strong feeling it’s a girl. “I’ve dreamed about this little girl for a while now, and I truly believe she’s the one I’m carrying,” she told PEOPLE in February.

If you’re not yet caught up on all of the drama that went down with Jen and Zac last year, you can watch it all unfold on the latest season of The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives on Disney+.
