Morgan Wallen's Hearing Postponed Until August For Chair Incident

An initial hearing for country music star Morgan Wallen has been postponed until August in a case where he is accused of throwing a chair from the rooftop of a six-story bar, nearly hitting two police officers. Wallen's attorney stated that the case is complex and assured that Wallen would be present at the rescheduled hearing on August 15.

Wallen faces three felony counts of reckless endangerment and one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct. According to an arrest affidavit, witnesses reported seeing Wallen pick up a chair, throw it off the roof of Chief’s bar on April 7, and laugh about it. The chair landed close to the officers, as confirmed by security footage and witness statements.

While Wallen's attorney did not confirm whether Wallen threw the chair, Wallen issued a statement accepting responsibility for his actions and expressing regret for his behavior. The statement mentioned making amends and cooperating with law enforcement.

Despite the legal issues, Wallen, known for hits like “Last Night” and “You Proof,” is currently on a stadium tour and is set to perform in Nashville for three nights, including shows at Nissan Stadium. His album “One Thing at a Time” was a chart-topper in 2023 and the most-consumed album in the U.S. last year.

This is not the first time Wallen has faced controversy. In 2021, he was suspended indefinitely from his label after a video surfaced showing him using a racial slur. In 2020, he was arrested on public intoxication and disorderly conduct charges after being ejected from Kid Rock’s bar in downtown Nashville.
