More than 600 people without power on the hottest day of the year

More than 600 people have been without power on the hottest day of the year.

Electricity North West confirmed a 'large' powercut in Manchester this afternoon after a fault at the Worsley substation.

653 customers were cut off from electricity at 2.22pm.

Investigators were sent to the M28 postcode area to fix the problem and power was finally turned on again at 4.5pm.

A spokesperson for the company said there had been an 'underground cable fault on the network'.

Writing on Twitter, Ellie from the team urged anybody who still had a powercut to call the emergency number 105.
