Tokyo Gov. Yuriko Koike said more than 180 people in Tokyo will be newly confirmed on Sunday to have contracted the novel coronavirus.
Koike was speaking Sunday at a video conference of the National Governors' Association.
The daily number of infected people had exceeded 280 for three consecutive days through Saturday. This is the first time in four days that the number has dropped below 200.
