More shop fronts are being transformed in Huyton under 'exciting plans' for the town

A number of shop fronts in Huyton have undergone a contemporary makeover over the past few months - and more properties are set to follow in their footsteps.

Throughout this year, Huyton Village has welcomed new developments and additions to the town centre , from embracing new businesses to hosting community events such as Huyton Live .

One noticeable change has been the transformation of shop fronts on Derby Road.

Part of Knowsley Council' s plans to develop and enhance Huyton Village Centre, the first phase of the programme saw five outlets adopt a new, stylish shop front decor.

Rogues and Rascals Barbershop, Eton Place mediterranean restaurant, Stitch Perfect Clothing Alternations, Yes Coffee and Star Noodles, located between 67-75 Derby Road, now have modern, matching exteriors, which are said to have increased the number of customers coming through the doors.

And now work on another five outlets has commenced on the same road, which will include the repair and painting of brickwork, new shop fronts, new signage and feature lighting.

The next phase includes Millicans, Bargain Buzz - formerly Bargain Booze, the former Thomas Cook which is soon to be Hays Travel, The Coffee House and The Big Help - previously Greenhalgh’s.

Whilst work is underway, it is business as usual for Bargain Buzz and Millicans.

In response to feedback, the shop front improvement scheme was introduced by Knowsley Council as many local residents and visitors said they wanted to see the village centre become more attractive and modern.

Cllr Tony Brennan, cabinet member for regeneration and economic development, said: "I’m delighted with how our plans for the village centre are progressing and look forward to seeing a further phase of shop fronts transformed over the coming months.

"As well as physical improvements, we have also introduced a successful events programme starting with Huyton Live that we hope to build on, as well as the number of new food and drink establishments moving into Huyton.

"There really is a lot going on in Huyton and I look forward to see our exciting plans develop further over the coming months."
