More early team news emerges as midfielder claims Newcastle 'ready' for West Brom clash

Sean Longstaff says Newcastle United's players can't wait to return to action after their enforced COVID break.

The Aston Villa clash was cancelled after a major outbreak of COVID at their Benton training ground - and there were fears the West Brom game would go the same way.

But the outbreak has been brought under control and Newcastle now have "70%" of their first team available.

Goalkeeper Dan Langley was ommitted by the under-23s, which may suggest there could be a reshuffle in goal, but mainly it appears there'll be enough senior players to field a strong side.

Sean Longstaff is one of those who has been passed fit.

"It's what we love doing and when it gets taken away in those circumstances, it's never good," he told Sky Sports.

"The days training we've had have been really good, a high tempo. We know it's going to be another really tough game against a really tough opponent with a good manager who sets them up really well.

"They've got some really good players, good individuals and plenty of pace and power and experience."
