More Covid-19 deaths confirmed at Nottingham hospitals

Two more patients have died in Nottingham hospitals after testing positive for Covid-19.

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs the Queen's Medical Centre and the City Hospital, announced the deaths on Tuesday, May 5.

This takes the trust's coronavirus death toll to 221. The patients were aged 82 and 85.

Dr Keith Girling, medical director at Nottingham University Hospitals, said: "Sadly we can confirm that a further two patients have died having tested positive for Covid-19.

"Regrettably that means that 221 Covid-19 positive patients we were caring for have sadly died since the beginning of March.

"The patients were aged 82 and 85, and died on the 1st and 3rd of May respectively.

"The families have been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult and distressing time."
