A "monster" eel has washed up on the shore of a beach in East Devon.
The "impressive" creature was found on Monday on Exmouth beach by Ottery St Mary Police officers, DevonLive reports.
The officers took to Twitter to share their incredible discovery as they likened the eel to a "conga".
The tweet reads: ''Me and my crewmate were about to break out doing the conga, with this rather impressive conga washed up on Exmouth beach this morning.''
It comes after a dead dolphin was spotted on the same beach last month.
Resident Jessica Luxon discovered the dead dolphin on December 20, whilst out on a run.
She said: ''I saw this mound by the shore line, at first I thought it was a buoy washed up but then I saw the fin."
Ms Luxon described the dolphin as being about one metre long before adding: ''The top beak looked like is was ripped off or cut off and it had wounds on its back.''
According to Marine Dimensions, if you find a dead sea creature on the beach, you should:
- Call your local Marine Wildlife Rescue operator immediately and take their advice. You should also inform the authorities responsible for managing the beach, including the police.
- Do not touch the animal or try to move it.
- Try to keep onlookers and dog walkers away from the animal until the authorities arrive as there is a risk of the animal’s decomposing body becoming a health hazard.
