Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis explains how to get free cash and wine by making a simple change

People could get free cash and wine for simply changing their bank account.

Last week Martin Lewis revealed that HSBC were offering £125 to customers who switched to them.

And now other banks have jumped on the trend, offering cash and other benefits to tempt new customers in.

Martin's Money Saving Expert team have revealed the latest deals in their weekly newsletter.

The newsletter said: "There are three standout bribes to tempt you to switch - you need to be a new customer, and use the banks' official switching services to qualify.

"The switch takes seven working days, all direct debits and standing orders are moved for you, your old account is closed and all payments auto-forwarded."

The HSBC offer sees people receive £125 cash for switching to the HSBC Advance account, where they have to pay in £1,750 a month.

First Direct are also now offering people £100 to switch to them, if they pay in £1,000 within three months of opening the account.

Many people who open a First Direct account are offered a £250 0% overdraft and have the option of a linked 1% regular saver account.

Most people are eligible for the account, but you won't be able to claim it if you've ever had any account with First Direct or opened a bank account with HSBC or M&S Bank since 2018.

Virgin Money is the third bank to offer a deal, with customers getting 12 bottles of wine, worth £138, and a free £50 charity donation via Virgin Giving.

There is no minimum monthly payment but you need to put £1,000 in their linked easy access savings account with pays 0.5% and you also have to register for the app.
