A student who let a stranded gran stay at her flat after she missed her last bus is now one of her best pals despite a 52-year age gap.

After joining a party Rebecca was at and staying the night at her student halls, grateful Ann headed back to Dumfriesshire but the pair stayed in touch.

Scots teen posted selfie with caption 'gametime' shortly before knifing neighbour through the heart

A Scots teenager took a selfie with the caption 'gametime' shortly before he killed a neighbour.

Jack McBride was just 17 when he knifed Johnny Winters in the heart during a confrontation in the street in Johnstone, Renfrewshire on April 1 2020.

McBride had earlier called his ex-girlfriend taunting her that she thought he could not "kill" somebody.

He had gone on trial at the High Court in Glasgow charged with murdering 26 year-old Johnny.

But, via his QC Thomas Ross, McBride had his guilty plea to the reduced charge of culpable homicide accepted by prosecutors today.

'Traumatised' Scots gran detained for 24 hours in Spanish cell over lost passport

Sharon Dempsey hails from Drumchapel in Glasgow (HANDOUT)

A Scots great-grandmother has been left 'devastated' after she was detained and 'treated like a criminal' in a Spanish airport.

Sharon Dempsey lost her passport on a British Airways flight from Glasgow International to Alicante on Saturday morning.

The 65-year-old was bound for two-weeks in Benidorm with her brother, Thomas Donnelly.

As a result of Brexit, British passport holders can only enter Spain with a stamped passport.

Upon landing at around 9am, and realising her passport was gone, Sharon, 65, was hauled into a detention centre by police and left till 12.30pm the next day.

Rangers fans 'try to book hot air balloon' to Seville amid soaring cost of flying

Desperate Rangers fans have tried to rise above the soaring cost of flying to Seville next week – by trying to hitch a ride on a hot air balloon.

The Rainbow Hot Air Balloon Team confirmed that they had received requests from three potential customers, asking if it was possible to charter a crossing over the English channel to Spain.

The firm replied yesterday: ”OK, everyone, we received message by three different people, asking about balloon flights over the Channel to France.

“We can confirm we do not fly over the Channel. If this is a joke, it is a funny one!”
