Moment police surround car on M60 due to 'poor standard of driving'

This is the moment police used ‘pre-emptive tactics’ to stop a driver on the M60.

On Monday (August 9), North West Motorway Police reported on Twitter that a car had been stopped on the M60 junction 13 and 14, near to Worsley, due to a ‘poor standard’ of driving and near-misses.

In a photo shared of the incident, the vehicle was seen surrounded by three police cars in a bid to make the driver pull over.

The driver had been reported by an off-duty officer who suspected they were driving under the influence.

Following a stop of the vehicle, the driver passed roadside tests and was therefore reported for driving without due care.

The tweet wrote: “Pre-emptive tactics used to safely stop a car on the M60 J13 & J14 due to the poor standard of driving & near misses.

“Called in by off duty officer suspecting the driver was under the influence, road side tests passed & driver reported for driving without due care.”

On Monday, a separate incident saw a driver almost crash into a barrier on a dual carriageway on Raikes Lane in Bolton.

The driver, who later told police he was ‘just taking his friends home, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
