Watch: Police Taser suspect in Golders Green stabbings as officer screams: 'Drop the f*****g knife'

Police have released body-worn footage showing the moment a suspect was Tasered and arrested following a terrorist attack in north London in which two men were stabbed.

The video shows two officers surrounding the man and ordering him to “get down on the ground”. When he refuses, their commands become more urgent, with one officer shouting “taser taser get down on the ground”.

Moments later, the suspect falls to the ground as one officer moves to remove what appears to be a knife from his hand.

During the struggle, the officer is seen kicking at the weapon while a member of the public steps in to assist.

At the same time, the second officer can be heard shouting “drop the knife, drop the f***ing knife”.

The weapon is then removed and the man is arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

In the last seconds of the video, an officer shouts “suspect detained”.

Captioning the video, a Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “The suspect refused to show his hands, was violent and continued to pose a clear threat. Using only their training, courage and tasers, they detained him while he continued to try to attack and stab them. This took true courage.”

It comes after another video of the incident went viral on social media earlier and prompted some users to raise concerns about the level of force used by officers.

Officers from Met Police were called to Highfield Avenue in Golders Green at 11.16am on Wednesday following reports that people had been stabbed.

Local and armed officers attended the scene alongside the London Ambulance Service.

Two men, aged 76 and 34, were treated at the scene for stab wounds before being taken to hospital, where they remain in a stable condition.

A 45-year-old man, a British national born in Somalia, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He was initially taken to hospital, but has since been discharged and transferred to a London police station, where he remains in custody.

Police said the suspect also attempted to stab officers and was subsequently Tasered before being arrested. No officers were injured during the incident.

Officers are carrying out a search at an address in south-east London.

As part of the investigation, detectives are also examining a separate incident reported earlier on Wednesday in the same area.

Police believe the suspect involved in that incident is the same individual who was arrested in Golders Green.

Officers were called at approximately 8.50am on April 29 to an incident at an address in Great Dover Street. The suspect who is reported to have been armed with a knife, is believed to have had an altercation with the occupant before leaving.

The occupant received minor injuries and police arrived within around six minutes of being called. Officers carried out searches in the local area for the suspect, but he was not located.

Officers also carried out enquiries to locate the man at an address connected to the suspect, but again, he was not located.
