Man chased across Heathrow tarmac was 'being deported on commercial flight'

A man who was chased across the tarmac at Heathrow Airport close to a moving aircraft was allegedly set to be deported from the country.

The individual, who appeared to have a black belt strapped to his waist, was seen running away from at least four other men across the airport grounds near Terminal 2 on Sunday.

Video footage shows the man running across the tarmac, as a Middle Eastern Airlines flight takes off along the runway.

It is thought that he may have escaped a commercial flight heading to India before passengers started boarding the plane.

The MailOnline reported that the man had been escorted to the UK by contractors Mitie Care & Custody on behalf of the Home Office.

It is understood that the Home Office are investigating the incident.

Mitie explained that it has also launched an investigation following the incident.

A company spokesperson said: “The individual was quickly apprehended, re-boarded the flight, and was handed over to the relevant authorities on landing.”

A group of men were filmed attempting to run after the man who appeared to be wearing a white T-shirt and tracksuit bottoms.

The pursuit, recorded by Big Jet TV, goes on for around a minute until the man is eventually caught and detained.

A van, carrying two people in fluorescent tops arrives, and the individual can be seen being escorted away.

The full livestream shows a police vehicle arriving at the scene and the man is put in the back of the van.

A Heathrow spokesperson previously said: "Working with partners, we have quickly resolved an incident at the airport involving an individual who accessed the airfield taxiway.

"The individual has been removed from the airport.

"The airport continues to operate as normal and passengers are travelling as planned."
