Police have released terrifying CCTV of an armed robber storming the Five Star shop in Oldham, Chadderton.
Footage shows the robber threatening a staff member by banging the axe on the counter while demanding money.
The offender is heard repeatedly shouting ‘hurry up!’ while the worker struggles to open the tills.
The axe-wielding robber then leaves the store after reaching into a till and grabbing a wad of cash.
Police are now appealing for anyone who may recognise the man, or who has any information, to contact the force.
The robbery took place shortly before 3.50pm on September 28.
Detective Constable Sarah Hay of GMP’s Oldham District said: “Thankfully no-one was injured in this robbery, but this was clearly a terrifying ordeal for the shop worker to endure.
“We have released clear footage of the incident unfolding and we’re confident someone will recognise this individual.
“We believe that the offender was accompanied by a second male, who waited in a shop next door to the convenience store while the offence unfolded.
