Molly-Mae Hague's tan sparks furious debate as she admits it can be 'too dark'

Former Love Islander Molly-Mae Hague is showing off a glowing tan following her return from a Maldives holiday, although fans are questioning whether it's real.

The 21-year-old influencer, who has 3.6 million Instagram followers, shared her most recent selfie almost two hours ago.

In the post she shows a heavily contoured face alongside the caption, “Putting off drying my hair. What’s new.”

Many followers have left positive remarks about her latest selfie but some have made digs about the picture.

“21 century has made girls go from naturally beautiful to broken barbies,” one follower quipped.

“OMG Molly you're so tanned,” another pointed out.

“Wonder if that’s her real tan because if it is I want it,” said another.

It’s not the first time that Molly-Mae’s dark tan has been brought up among her fans.

At the end of last year, the reality star explained that she had been trolled over how orange she is when she does her make-up.

"I often get lots of comments on how my face is too dark,” she explained in a post last year.

"I go very pale in the winter time and obviously now it’s getting colder, it’s getting wintery.

"So I’ve gotten quite pale. Once my foundation is on, and the whole world has hated me for how orange my face is…" she continues.

Molly has made a point of announcing that she is being paid to post the image in partnership with Tatti Lashes.

It comes just days after the social media starlet was forced to delete an image from Instagram after a formal complaint was made.

In the image she and she was being paid to promote an outfit for clothing outlet PrettyLittleThing. The post was swiftly taken down.

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) have said that the Islander must make clear in her posts that she is being an ambassador for specific brands.

Despite harsh comments calling her out to be orange, Molly-Mae also has an abundance of loyal fans who adore her look, with comments such as “She’s my contour queen.”
