Moises Caicedo breaks silence on future amid Manchester United transfer interest

Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo has admitted he enjoys being in the headlines this summer as several Premier League sides battle for his signature.

Manchester United are one of several sides to have held a long-standing interest in Caicedo, with reports earlier this year suggesting they were keen on the 21-year-old. The arrival of Mason Mount for £60million looks to have filled the midfield gap, but Erik ten Hag would be open to a second midfield signing once he lands a goalkeeper and a No.9.

Caicedo was considered as an alternative to Mount while United struggled to agree on a fee with Chelsea for the England international. Chelsea have emerged as frontrunners for the Ecuador international, with Mauricio Pochettino's side set to submit an official offer imminently.

Arsenal and Liverpool have also been interested in the past, with the former seeing a £70million bid rejected by Brighton in January. He has now spoken about the interest in him this summer.

"It's a very great emotion," he told Maria Jose Flores of the attention he is receiving, as quoted by 90min. "What guy wouldn't want them to be talking about him?

"I know how to handle it. I don't get carried away by emotions. I'm enjoying time with my family for now. There is pressure, but I am calm. I am waiting for whatever God decides. He will know what is best for me."

Mount's arrival on earlier this week will likely pave the way for at least one midfield exit at United, with Fred the most likely to be sold. Fulham are interested in the Brazilian who is expected to cost between £20-30million. However Scott McTominay's future is also uncertain, and the Scot's sale could open the door for a second midfield signing.

Speaking after their final-day defeat against Aston Villa in May, Seagulls manager Roberto De Zerbi all but confirmed that Caicedo and midfield partner Alexis Mac Allister - who has since joined Liverpool - would depart.

"I think it can be the last game for Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo at Brighton," he admitted. "I am really sorry because they are two great players but the policy of Brighton is like this. It is right that they can leave, to play at higher level."
