Mohamed Salah's touching message as Liverpool star scoops major honour

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has been named in TIME Magazine's 100 most influential people.

Salah will also feature on a special edition of the world famous publication.

The cover photo features the Egyptian winger in the Reds' away kit feigning to shoot.

In the subsequent interview by comedian John Oliver, Salah shares an incredible message of support to women around the world.

The 26-year-old, who has scored 19 goals in the Premier League this season, said: "I think we need to change the way we treat women in our culture. It’s not optional."

Salah continued to explain how his experiences from his own culture and in the Middle East altered the way he thinks about gender relations.

He added: "I support the woman more than I did before, because I feel like she deserves more than what they give her now, at the moment."

The Egypt international also discussed what he does in his spare time, admitting: "I just live my life normal. Most of the time I stay at home, I don’t like to go out."

Salah's agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, shared the image on Twitter and simply wrote: "Speechless".

The cover is part of six special editions set to be published by TIME, and will be available from April 29.

Other cover stars chosen from the list of 100 influential people include American politician Nancy Pelosi, actor Dwayne Johnson, singer Taylor Swift, Canadian actress Sandra Oh and TV personality Gayle King.
