Mobility scooter linked to suspected SA murder

A mobility scooter believed to have been used to move a suspected murder victim to the spot he was later found unconscious has now been seized by police.

Adrian Trett, 45, was found wrapped in blankets on a Mannum street in South Australia's Murraylands on April 23.

He was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with a serious head injury but never regained consciousness and died less than a fortnight later.

Police have released more images linked to the case, including CCTV of an associate of Mr Trett's at the local On The Run service station at 9:18pm the night before the victim was found.

The associate can be seen wearing a distinctive black 'eight-ball' helmet and riding a small motorbike, which police also previously described as a scooter and which belonged to Mr Trett.

"Mr Trett's motorbike was recovered alongside him in David Street, however the whereabouts of the helmet at this time are unknown," Inspector Billy Thompson said in a statement.

Investigators revealed they have now also seized a mobility scooter for further forensic examination.

"But we are seeking information about that vehicle and anyone who saw it around the time of Mr Trett's death as we believe it was used to move him from an Asmus Street address to nearby David Street," Inspector Thompson said.

Police are also trying to identify two or three people who were seen attending to Mr Trett and wrapping him in a blanket before he was found.

"Major Crime investigators are currently making enquiries with associates of Mr Trett relevant to this investigation in Victoria," Inspector Thompson said.

"It is hoped that information provided by those associates will benefit the investigation."

In June, police announced Mr Trett's death was being treated as a homicide.

They revealed Mr Trett was unemployed and was living in Adelaide's southern suburbs before moving to Mannum.

He had been married with grown-up children, but was estranged from his wife.

Inspector Thompson also previously said police had identified persons of interest, but some of the people interviewed "may not have been truthful in their accounts".

"Our inquiries not only concern how Mr Trett sustained his head injury, but how and why he came to be in David Street," he said.
