A trainee hairdresser in Perthshire has achieved her goal of raising £2000 to buy a van so she can drive her salon anywhere.
Fiona Beattie from Scone recovered from cancer last year and opted to begin a new career in hairdressing.

She began a crowdfunding drive last month and shared her dream with the public of creating a mobile salon, to be called Binty Hair Boutique Van.
Fiona plans to be in the driving seat of her new venture, taking her sink and straighteners to cancer day centres, hospitals, country villages and even festivals.
Using a scheme run by the RBS to help women start up businesses, Fiona used social media to meet her sponsorship target by the deadline of July 6.

The disruption of COVID-19 has meant she had been unable to be at Perth College to continue her City and Guilds hairdressing qualification but has been doing extra study online during lockdown.
She’s hoping to begin the second year of the course in September.

Now on the back of that, she has opted to try and raise a further £1000 to fit out the van with all the equipment to take her salon on the road.
Fiona said this week: “On Monday I hit my target of £2000.
“Having had some amazing support from people all over Perthshire, I’m now aiming to stretch my target to a extra thousand pounds.
“The extra money will be for fitting out the van.
“To keep the cost low, I am going to find what I need through Facebook and eBay and use local people for the fitting out and the interior.”
