Mobile only car hire firm launches in Edinburgh

Mobile-only car rental service Virtuo has launched for the first time in Scotland today.

Mercedes A-Class and GLA cars will be available at Q-Park Omni car park near Edinburgh Waverley station.

Virtuo now has a UK fleet of more than 250 vehicles costing from £43 a day.

Customers register, book and unlock cars via the app, which helps users locate their car and submit a damage report, providing real-time fuel and mileage information.

Michael Altom, general manager UK, France and Belgium at Virtuo, said; “We’re incredibly excited to be expanding to our first location in Scotland. Edinburgh is one of the most exciting cities in the UK. Locals and visitors alike now have a seamless and hassle-free way to explore without the hassle of getting to a car rental desk or forking out for multiple train tickets.”

Virtuo launched in London last summer and now has 13 locations at airports and train stations including London Heathrow, Victoria, Waterloo, King’s Cross and Stratford International, and Manchester Piccadilly. Its expansion follows a 20 million euro fundraise led by Balderton Capital, Iris Capital and Raise Ventures.
