Mo Alie-Cox’s new contract worth up to $18 million

The Indianapolis Colts agreed to terms on a three-year deal with tight end Mo Alie-Cox that is worth up to $18 million, first reported Monday by Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

While Pelissero reported the deal is for $18 million over three years, Joel A. Erickson of The Indianapolis Star reported the deal is worth up to that figure. The structure of the contract has yet to be reported.

This deal is nearly the exact one that Jack Doyle signed with the Colts during the 2020 season. He still had one year left on his contract at the time of his retirement this offseason.

Re-signing Alie-Cox became somewhat of a necessity for the Colts following Doyle’s retirement. Both sides expressed interest in getting a contract done this offseason.

The Colts entered free agency with the most salary-cap space in the NFL and this marks the first significant deal the team made since the legal tampering period began on Monday at noon.
