MLB The Show 25: How to Complete the Roberto Clemente Day Program

Each year on September 15, Major League Baseball celebrates Roberto Clemente Day in honor of the legendary Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder. But there is more to this day of celebration than just honoring a terrific career.

On the field, Clemente was known for his great contact hitting, elite glove, and for being the first player from the Caribbean and Latin America to win a World Series, NL MVP, and World Series MVP. Off the field, Clemente was known for his philanthropic efforts, especially when it came to his native Puerto Rico. In total, Clemente was a 15-time All-Star and helped guide the Pirates to two World Series championships.

Shortly after the end of the 1972 season, Clemente had left the United States to help provide aid for the survivors of a devastating earthquake in Nicaragua. Tragically, the flight he was on crashed en route, ending his life at just 38 years old. Because of Clemente’s stellar career, as well as his charitable actions outside of baseball, MLB changed its Hall of Fame rules to accommodate his induction into Cooperstown in 1973.

To commemorate the life and career of the Pirates legend, MLB The Show routinely gives Clemente a card on September 15 as well. And MLB The Show 25 is no different.

Roberto Clemente’s Milestone Card

The ultimate reward for completing the Roberto Clemente Day program is Clemente’s Milestone card, which commemorates the Pirates star’s 1961 Gold Glove-winning season. Here are the attributes in full:

  • CON R: 125
  • CON L: 125
  • POW R: 91
  • POW L: 100
  • VIS: 108
  • DISC: 54
  • CLT: 125
  • BUNT: 41
  • DBUNT: 31
  • DUR: 95
  • FLD: 90
  • ARM: 99
  • ACC: 99
  • REAC: 88
  • SPD: 70
  • STEAL: 12
  • BR AGG: 10

As one could have predicted, Clemente has max contact against both righty and lefty pitchers (as he should, considering he was a career .317 hitter with 3,000 hits). And given that the card itself celebrates his 1961 Gold Glove win, he has immaculate fielding with 90 Fielding, 88 Reactions, and 99 in both Arm Strength and Arm Accuracy. The only thing that might stand in his way is the 70 Speed rating and lack of secondary positions (he only plays right field).

Overall, as painful as it is to admit, there are better options for right field. However, Clemente could be a great addition to a Pirates theme team, which includes the likes of Honus Wagner, Bryan Reynolds, Willie Stargell, and plenty of other great hitters, though the pitching is pretty lacking. He is also great for completing the Milestone collection.

How To Complete The Roberto Clemente Program

Luckily, finishing the Roberto Clemente Day program is not difficult at all. In fact, you only need to collect 50 Stars to complete it.

Completing the program can be done in one of two ways:

  • Completing the five Moments (25 Stars) and five Stat Missions (25 Stars)
  • Completing the Clemente Day Conquest map (50 Stars)

Personally, I’d recommend doing the Conquest map. Not only does it require beating just five strongholds, but doing so gives you all 50 Stars needed.
