Mitsui makes final investment decision for Australia's Waitsia Stage 2 gas project

Japan's Mitsui & Co said on Wednesday that it and its partner Beach Energy have made a final investment decision for Australia's Waitsia gas project stage 2 development.

Through the expansion project, production capacity of 250 terajoule (TJ) a day will be added to the current capacity of 20 TJ a day, Mitsui said in a statement.

The total capital expenditure for the stage 2 project is A$768 million ($581 million), half of which will come from Mitsui. The production from the stage 2 project is planned to start in the second half of 2023.
