Missing Texas journalist worried about man following her safely located in Houston

A missing Texas sports reporter _ who texted a friend that a questionable man followed her home _ was found safe Monday morning, police said.

Courtney Roland was discovered near The Galleria mall in western Houston, according to local police.

She was found at a Chick-Fil-A restaurant just south of the mall, according to news reports.

The 29-year-old journalist didn't appear to be harmed, but will be evaluated at a hospital.

Cops reportedly found Roland's white Jeep in the Chick-Fil-A parking lot overnight, according to news channel KHOU.

Her cellphone and other belongings were inside the vehicle, cops said, while her purse was found at a nearby business.

She was previously spotted walking through a store at The Galleria on Sunday at about 5:40 p.m.

Roommate Autumn Vara previously said Roland texted her Saturday night about a suspicious man she saw at Walgreens who followed her home.

Roland, a Texas A&M reporter for Rivals.com and AggieYell.com, told Vara the man sped off in his blue truck when she got out of her car, NBC affiliate KPRC reported.

Vara was supposed to meet later that night with Roland, but she didn't show up.

Roland's mother also told the news channel she received a mysterious text message on Sunday.

The note read: "hello the owner of this phone Courtney. I am buying an iPad."

She'd previously last been seen at about 4 p.m. Saturday when she covered a Houston football training camp, KPRC reported.

Houston police Chief Art Acevedo and Gov. Greg Abbott shared tweets spreading the word on Roland's disappearance.
