Missing Scots fisherman found after disappearing on Easter Sunday

A missing Scots fisherman has been traced safe and well after police launched a frantic search when he disappeared on Easter Sunday.

David Mooney, from Paisley, had been on a weekend fishing trip with friends at Loch Cluanie in the Highlands when he vanished at around 1.30pm.

Police believed 43-year-old David got a bus or another form of transport from the A87 to head back to Paisley.

Officers said they were growing increasingly concerned as it was out of character for David.

Mountain rescue teams were drafted in to help with the search on Monday as another day passed with no trace of David.

However, cops confirmed last night David had been found safe 48 hours after he was reported missing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police Scotland are pleased to report that missing person David Mooney (43) who had last been seen in the Loch Cluanie, west of Invergarry area has been traced safe and well.

"We would like to thank any persons who assisted in this enquiry."
