Missing North Yorkshire man William Matthews believed to have travelled to Newcastle

A missing man from North Yorkshire is thought to have travelled to Newcastle.

Police are searching for William Matthews and say he may have travelled to the city by bus.

They are growing increasingly concerned for his welfare and are appealing for anyone who may have seen the 66-year-old to come forward.

William's car was found in Middlesbrough and he is thought to have got on a bus to Newcastle at 11am on Saturday, July 31.

CCTV photos of William before he got on the bus have been released in a bid to track him down.

Northumbria Police are also involved in the search for William.

A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: "We are searching for a man, 66, from Stokesley whose car was found in Middlesbrough and is thought to have travelled by bus to Newcastle on Saturday (July 31).

"Missing William Matthews is pictured here before getting on the 11am bus. Please call 101 with information."
