Missing Castle Huntly inmate traced and arrested

Police Scotland has traced and arrested a missing Castle Huntly inmate who was found 60-miles from the prison.

Andrew Weir (32) had breached the conditions of his home leave from the Longforgan-based facility and was believed to have connections in the Bathgate and wider West Lothian area.

Weir was first reported missing on Friday, March 6.

However, he was traced and arrested around Killin, on the Highland Perthshire border, on Monday, March 9.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police Scotland can confirm that 32-year-old Andrew Weir, an inmate at HMP Castle Huntly, Dundee, who went missing during home leave, has been traced.

"Weir was reported missing on Friday, March 6 and was traced and arrested in the Killin area on Monday, 9 March.

"Officers would like to thank all those who supported the appeal for information to trace Weir."
