Missing Airdrie man Thomas Byrne sparks police appeal

Police have launched an appeal amid growing concerns for missing Airdrie man Thomas Byrne.

The 65-year-old was last seen on Sunday afternoon on Kipps Avenue and is described as 5ft 10in tall, of a slim build with shoulder length brown hair that is greying.

A Lanarkshire Police Division statement issued last night reads: "We are appealing for information to help trace missing Thomas Byrne from the Airdrie area.

"The 65-year-old man was last seen on Kipps Avenue, around 4.40pm on Sunday, 8 March, 2020.

"He is described as 5ft 10in tall, of a slim build with shoulder length brown hair that is greying. When last seen, Thomas was wearing a black Helly Hansen jacket, grey Puma joggers and black Nike trainers."

Inspector Bill McPherson, of Lanarkshire Response Policing added: "We are becoming increasingly concerned for Thomas’ wellbeing and we are appealing for the public's help to try and trace him.

"I would urge anyone who may have seen someone matching this description, or who has any idea where Thomas might be, to get in contact with officers.

"Police Scotland can be contacted on 101 quoting incident number 2656 of Sunday, 8 March, 2020."
