Miserable celebs isolating with Covid on NYE - from Love Island stars to Strictly pros

Just like us, celebrities can test positive for Covid-19 at any time – yes, even on New Year's Eve.

And there were a fair few celebrities who had to self isolate over the Christmas period, including the biggest night of the year – New Year's Eve.

From Love Island stars to American actresses, Strictly Come Dancing professionals and TV personalities, celebrities have been testing positive over the past week, meaning they needed to self isolate on New Year's Eve.

Here, we take a look at the miserable celebrities who had to self isolate on NYE....

Dianne Buswell

Strictly Come Dancing professional Dianne Buswell tested positive for Covid-19 in time for Christmas, which meant she was still in isolation one week later for New Year's Eve.

Finding the humour in it all, the dancing sensation penned a caption that read: "Bringing in the new year like I have spent a fair bit of 2021, in a hotel room in iso," hinting at the fact that she isolated a lot while competing in this year's Strictly.

She continued: "BUT if there’s one thing I have learnt this year is you just have to try and make the most of the situation! And that’s what we will continue to do, thankfully this time I’m with my partner in crime @joe_sugg. sending you all love and good wishes for the new year 2022."

Kerry Katona tested positive more than a week ago – on the Wednesday before Christmas in fact – yet she's still steering clear of people.

Isolating for New Year's Eve because she's still testing positive despite the length of time she's had the virus, Kerry uploaded a video with a caption that read: "Happy new year everyone!! Still got Covid but thought I’d put some make up on to cheer myself up."

She then went on to speak about how 2021 had been good to her, writing: "It’s been a fantastic year for me and my family.. last two weeks were a bit shit but we move on!

"I’m so bloody proud of myself and all my achievements I’ve reached this year. And a huge thank you to you all for all your amazing support your all amazing! Wishing you all the most mind blowing, fantastic, amazing wonderful, joyous positive 2022!!!"

Millie Court & Liam Reardon

Love Island power couple Millie Court and Liam Reardon have had to stay holed up in their Dubai hotel room to see in the new year after one of them tested positive.

Living the high life while jetsetting around the world, Covid-19 caught up with them and Liam unfortunately tested positive – putting a stop to their plans.

Millie, who tested negative, took to Instagram to update their fans and followers, penning a lengthy statement that caused a bit of backlash.

"Hey guys, sorry I've been a bit quiet with posting our holiday fun," she started, "but we received some bad news and Liam's PCR has come back 'presumptive positive'. This means we have to isolate now for 3 days in the hope that it may be negative then.

"If it is then we're free to leave but if it's positive then we have to finish the 10-day quarantine," she explained.

"We are absolutely gutted. We had to cancel the desert tour we had planned today last minute, we were supposed to be celebrating tonight what an amazing year we've both had but we'll be celebrating inside our room and watching the firework display from our balcony.

"Worst part is we were supposed to be flying to the Maldives in 2 days time. Liam bought and surprised me with this holiday of a lifetime for my birthday and it's all gone wrong. People will say 'shouldn't have gone during a pandemic anyway' however we're not living our lives in fear and we're trying to live our lives to the best we can being as safe as possible."

She continued: "Throughout Christmas myself and Liam did lateral flows every day and when we saw family we got them to test themselves with lateral flows too.

"We were being extra precautious. Liam feels absolutely fine, no symptoms whatsoever and I am negative. Fingers crossed we get some good news in a few days and we can continue our trip to the Maldives.

Millie concluded: "So if you're wondering why there isn't that much content, it's because we're stuck in our room. Only so much content we can post in here, who knows I might do a makeup tutorial for you guys, fill the time haha."

Debra Messing

American actress Debra Messing also tested positive in time for New Year's Eve, meaning she had to isolate while seeing in 2022.

Taking to Instagram to provide her fans with an update, the star posted a snap of her wearing a shower cap and a face mask.

"I’m COVID POSITIVE," she announced in the caption. "Yup. Happy New Year! Actually, it is the perfect end to 2021. The juicy cherry on the proverbial cake."

Charlotte Crosby

Charlotte Crosby cried as she was forced to spend New Year's Eve alone after testing positive for Covid.

The former Geordie Shore star, 31, took to her social media on Friday and had to cancel all of her plans after her lateral flow had a positive result.

Sharing a photo of her result with fans, the Geordie babe wrote: "The inevitable has happened.

"NYE at home with a Lemsip for me! My dry January started early!"

She curled up on the sofa and stayed in, while partygoers made the most of the night.

The TV star added: "I know I'm not doing anything for NYE tonight - but honestly these memories are so much better than any NYE I could ever have."
