Miracle escape as car ploughs into woman's kitchen next to where she was standing

A woman had a miracle escape when a car ploughed into her house, feet from where she stood.

The out-of-control red Ford Fiesta smashed through a side wall and into her kitchen.

But she was unhurt and the driver fled the scene, in West Heath, Birmingham.

West Midlands Fire Service Crew commander James Clarke said: “The car had gone out of control and hit the side of the house. It caused a lot of structural damage.

“The woman was about two metres away from the car – she was very lucky.”

Fire crews shored up the building after the smash at 7.30pm on Wednesday.

Police later removed the car and are hunting the driver.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “The driver fled and investigations are ongoing to trace them.”
