SINGAPORE: Thailand and the United States have reaffirmed defence cooperation ties in talks on the sidelines of the IISS Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, which runs until Sunday.
Defence Minister Lt Gen Adul Boonthumjaroen met US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth on Friday, where both sides exchanged views on regional security and strengthening bilateral defence ties.
Lt Gen Adul said Thailand was committed to its long-standing strategic partnership with the United States.
He also thanked Washington for supporting Thailand's defence industry development, particularly in unmanned aerial systems, counter-UAS capabilities, cyber security, space technology and modern battlefield management systems.
Both sides reaffirmed the importance of the Cobra Gold exercise, agreeing to further enhance the multinational drill to improve readiness, joint operations and humanitarian assistance.
The two countries also agreed to update cooperation frameworks, including efforts to tackle transnational crime such as online scam networks, and promote peaceful dialogue in regional disputes.
