Milwaukee Bucks forward Thanasis Antetokounmpo gets one-game suspension for headbutt

The NBA has slapped Milwaukee Bucks forward Thanasis Antetokounmpo with one-game suspension for headbutting Blake Griffin during Bucks' defeat against Boston Celtics.

The Eastern Conference game saw the Celtics winning 140-99, but not before Thanasis, who is the brother of Giannis Antetokounmpo, being ejected from the game following the headbutt incident in the fourth quarter.

Thanasis Antetokounmpo had been fouled hard by Griffin on a layup attempt, Griffin receiving a flagrant foul.

The Bucks player responded by aiming a quick headbutt at Griffin's temple during a stoppage in play.

Multiple players then got involved in a scuffle under the basket.

"It's that time of year," Boston's Jaylen Brown said after the game. "We're all getting ready for the playoffs, it's backs against the wall and survival of the fittest."

In 33 appearances this season for the Bucks, Thanasis averages 0.8 points and 0.9 rebounds in 4.2 minutes per game.

He will serve the suspension in Bucks' home game on Sunday against Philadelphia 76ers.
