At the 2024 Grammys, Miley Cyrus took home her first-ever award, winning the Best Pop Solo Performance for her hit song 'Flowers.' The 31-year-old singer beat out tough competition from Doja Cat, Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, and Taylor Swift. As she stepped onto the stage to accept the award from none other than Mariah Carey, Cyrus couldn't contain her excitement and fangirled over the pop queen who presented her with the honor.

Cyrus began her acceptance speech by giving a shoutout to Mariah Carey, expressing her admiration for the iconic singer. 'This MC is gonna stand by this MC,' Cyrus exclaimed, exuding enthusiasm. She expressed how honored she was to have Mariah Carey present the award and shared a personal anecdote.

Recounting a heartwarming story, Cyrus spoke about a little boy who only wished for a butterfly on his birthday. Although his parents gifted him a butterfly net, he couldn't capture one no matter how much he tried. Eventually, he surrendered and accepted that he might not be able to catch the butterfly. Miraculously, just when he let go, the butterfly landed right on the tip of his nose. Drawing a parallel to her own experience, Cyrus referred to her song 'Flowers' as her butterfly and expressed her gratitude.

The self-love anthem 'Flowers' served as the lead single from Cyrus's album, Endless Summer Vacation. It skyrocketed to the top of the U.S. Billboard charts, spending an impressive eight weeks in the coveted position. The song also broke records on Spotify, becoming the most-streamed song in a single week.

Celebrating the first anniversary of 'Flowers,' Cyrus took a moment to thank her fans for their support. On Instagram, she expressed her joy at seeing how the song brought happiness to people's lives. Her appreciative post was filled with love and gratitude towards her devoted followers.

Meanwhile, Doja Cat, 28, also received a nomination in the same category for her track 'Paint the Town Red.' The song sampled Dionne Warwick's classic hit, 'Walk on By.' Warwick, 83, expressed her excitement on Instagram, stating how thrilled she was that younger artists were honoring and reviving the work of older musicians.

Billie Eilish, 22, garnered a nomination for her song 'What Was I Made For?' from the Barbie soundtrack. In an interview with Apple Music 1 host Zane Lowe, Eilish spoke about the frustration she faced while writing the track. However, with the support of her brother and collaborator, Finneas, they managed to create a wonderful piece of music.

Olivia Rodrigo, 20, also found herself among the nominees with her track 'Vampire.' Rodrigo shared on Instagram that she created the song with her talented friend Dan Nigro during the winter. She revealed that the process of writing this particular song helped her navigate feelings of regret, anger, and heartache.

Lastly, Taylor Swift, known for her intimate and vulnerable songwriting, received a nomination for her track 'Anti-Hero.' Swift touched on her insecurities and the struggle she faced with the overwhelming aspects of fame. In an Instagram clip, she expressed how the song delved deeper into her deepest insecurities, making it one of her most introspective pieces.

The 2024 Grammys marked a significant milestone for Miley Cyrus, as she celebrated her first win at the prestigious award show. Alongside talented artists like Doja Cat, Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, and Taylor Swift, Cyrus showcased her artistry and passion for music. Whether capturing a butterfly or an award, Cyrus's journey is a testament to perseverance and letting go to allow magic to unfold.
