It is clear Mikel Arteta and Edu are not taking the easy way out as they look to transform Arsenal.
The pair have set about revolutionising the Gunners squad, with Arteta determined to put his own stamp on the club and leaving no stone unturned in doing so.
Their ruthless streak has been in full display over the past few months and never more evident than in a January transfer window which saw eight more players head for the exit door.
The upheaval is set to continue in the summer, albeit with some solid foundations starting to fall into place.
After assessing his squad, Arteta looks primed to give Edu a major task to solve an upcoming striker exodus.

Alexandre Lacazette, Eddie Nketiah and Folarin Balogun are all coming to the end of their contracts and it is looking increasingly likely all three could depart.
According to Football.London, Arsenal are willing to let Alexandre Lacazette leave for the right price as he enters the final year of his contract.
He has been linked with various clubs across Europe with reports in Italy claiming his agents have already got to work putting feelers out to find a destination.
Nketiah made a favourable impression on Arteta early in his reign, convincing him not to send him back out on loan to Leeds.
But he has made just three Premier League stars this season, being left out of the match day squad entirely for the last six games.
Arteta has recently hinted he could be allowed out on loan in search of regular game time.

With his contract expiring next summer, you would expect that a successful loan spell could see them look to cash-in with Arteta clearly unconvinced he can play a big role.
Lacazette and Nketiah departing would seemingly open the door to talented youngster Balogun, but his situation is far more pressing.
With his deal expiring this summer, he is still yet to commit to a new deal and could head to Europe in search of more first-team opportunities.
Unlike Lacazette and Nketiah, Balogun seems the player Arteta would like to keep, although he has not yet shown a belief he is ready to be a key first-team player at this stage.
If the trio do depart this summer, then that would leave Arteta’s attacking options thin on the ground and almost certainly see Edu tasked with finding a central front-man.

Captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has played through the middle but generally been more at home on the left flank, likewise Brazilian wonderkid Gabriel Martinelli.
The departure of Lacazette in particular is likely to net Arsenal a substantial fee, albeit significantly less than the £52million they paid to sign him from Lyon a few years ago.
Nketiah’s stock as England Under-21’s record goalscorer could also see him generate a hefty profit having come through the youth system.
That would give Edu some scope to find a replacement who Arteta is convinced is just the right fit for his system.
Lacazette has been a solid performer this season, and letting him go would represent a degree of risk.

But Arteta and Edu are seemingly prepared to back themselves to find the right man rather than taking the safe approach.
With a possibility of three exits, there could be more than one new striker on their way to Arsenal in the summer.
Andre Silva has been linked after his goalscoring exploits at Eintracht Frankfurt, whilst Celtic’s Odsonne Eduoard has been mentioned.
However, Edu and Arteta have unearthed some surprising additions in the past year and watching their work to find a focal point to Arsenal’s attack could be a fascinating summer storyline.
With the likes of Martinelli, Aubameyang, Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe in support, getting the right man to cover the central role if Lacazette, Nketiah and Balogun depart could be a key decision in Arsenal’s rebuild.
