Mikel Arteta sends message Arsenal fans over Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's future

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has issued a confident message about Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's future at the club following the FA Cup final.

The Gunners captain struck once in each half for Arsenal, leading the turnaround after Christian Pulisic opened the scoring for Chelsea after just five minutes.

That took his tally this season to 29 goals in all competitions but questions continue to orientate around the Gabon international and whether he will remain at the club.

Aubameyang has entered the final 12 months of his deal at the Emirates Stadium, meaning he will be available to leave on a free transfer next year if he does not pen a new agreement.

However, speaking on the pitch after the match, Arteta stated that he was feeling positive about tying his skipper down to a new deal.

"He's incredible, he's had an incredible season again. We are demanding a lot more because we need that in the team more than anything else and we expect the top players in the team to win big games, he's done it twice today," he told BT Sport.

"I am very positive, I had a conversation with him and I think he wants to stay so let's try to get that down and we can have him for a few more years."
