Mike Tyson decided to make boxing comeback when under the influence of psychedelic drug

Mike Tyson has admitted he was under the influence of psychedelic drugs when he decided to return to the ring.

Tyson retired from professional boxing in 2005 after quitting on his stool at the end of the sixth round of his 58th fight against Kevin McBride. But he returned 15 years later in an exhibition bout against fellow ring legend Roy Jones Jr with the bout scored a draw after eight uneventful rounds.

The undercard of the event, which was held behind closed doors, featured YouTube star Jake Paul in his second professional fight against Nate Robinson. Paul, 25, went on to fight three times last year, defeating Ben Askren before recording back-to-back victories over former UFC champion Tyron Woodley.

Tyson, 55, insists he will not fight again despite holding talks with former rival Evander Holyfield, and being linked to fights with both Jake and his brother Logan. And when asked about his fight with Roy Jones Jr by Joe Rogan, the former heavyweight world champion said: "I did this toad, this DMT stuff and I lost the weight. I don't know what happened, I just said I'm going to do this. I did this toad and I said, you've got to do this... you have to do that [and] I lost the weight."

Tyson was referring to the act of inhaling the toxic vapours of specific breeds of toads. The vapour has psychoactive properties and can lead to hallucinations. It has also been suggested that the treatment, although illegal in the US, can cure depression.

Tyson went on to say he has planned to fight former kickboxer and mixed martial artist Bob Sapp before eventually agreeing to fight Jones Jr.

"It started with me fighting Bob Sapp, that was going to be the first fight," he said. "The fight with Roy Jones was supposed to be with Bob Sapp. Roy Jones got involved, other fighters got involved, Holyfield got involved and it turned into a fiasco. Jake Paul got involved and that was the birth of Jake Paul."
