Mike Tindall explains that Prince George had to sit in different room for Christmas lunch

Christmas is a busy time for the Royal Family, with many of Queen's relatives heading to Norfolk for the special day.

But their celebrations start early in December when the Monarch hosts a huge Christmas lunch for all her loved ones at Buckingham Palace - with about 70 members of The Firm attending this year's festivities.

Mike Tindall, who is married to the Queen's granddaughter Zara, spoke about the celebrations on his podcast House of Rugby, and shared a few exciting details.

Even though he is limited to what he can say about the family's private celebrations, he did say who he sat with this year.

His co-stars James Haskell and Alex Payne asked which of the seven tables he sat as, making a risky joke about scandals facing certain members of the Royal Family this year.

They asked: "Do you find yourself upgrading every year and getting closer to the main table or are you off out the back?

"Is there a promotion and relegation based on the year's performance? Because if there is I imagine you're pretty much sitting on the right hand side of Her Majesty."

Mike stayed quiet throughout the jokes, but later added: "I was on Prince Charles's table, it was lovely."

He also explained why Prince George, Princess Charlotte and his daughters Mia and Lena weren't allowed to sit in the main room with all the grown ups for the special lunch.

He says that the royal tots have their own table in a separate room away from the adults.

He said: "This is the family lunch, there were seven tables so there must have been about 70 of us there.

"The kiddies have their own little one in a different room."
