Mike Brown, Bengals issue statements on Clint Boling’s retirement

Monday, the Bengals announced guard Clint Boling was retiring from the NFL.

Boling had spent the offseason dealing with a blood clot and decided at the age of 30 to hang up the cleats heading into a contract year and instead focus on his family.

“I’m expecting this fall to chase some kids around. Well, one of them isn’t really mobile yet,” Boling said, according to Bengals.com. “It’s about my family. It’s the most important thing in my life right now … (The condition) is not something to take on.”

While there are plenty of on-field ramifications to consider, the news meant it was time to shine a spotlight on Boling’s career and what he brought to the team.

From that angle, team president Mike Brown and director of player personnel Duke Tobin offered statements, via Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic:
