Midlothian man attacked and robbed of electric bike by gang 'brandishing weapon'

A young Midlothian man was assaulted and had his electric bike stolen by a gang of three men brandishing a weapon on Friday night.

The terrifying encounter took place on Bogwood Road, Mayfield, around 9:45pm when the 22-year-old was approached and threatened by three men, one of whom had a weapon.

The victim suffered a cut to his arm during the attack and had his Sur-Ron LBX off-road electric bike stolen as well as his bag.

Police have launched a probe into the incident and have released descriptions of the three attackers, all of which had local Midlothian accents.

The first is described as white, 19-years-old, 5ft 10 in height, of slim build and had short dark ginger hair. He was also wearing a grey tracksuit.

The second is described as white, 19-years-old, 5 ft 7 in height, of slim build and had short black hair. He had a blue North Face jacket on.

The third man was white, 19-years-old, 6 ft in height, of a muscular build and had short black hair. He was wearing a blue jacket and black trousers.

Detective Sergeant James Welsh, Dalkeith CID, said: "The Bogwood Road area of Mayfield is busy with pedestrians and vehicles and I am sure that someone would have seen this robbery taking place.

"If you have any information that could assist our investigation, then please contact police. We’d ask motorists who were in the area around 9.45 pm to check their dash-cam footage in case it captured the robbery."
