Mick Jagger pictured for first time since undergoing life-saving heart surgery

Rolling Stones legend Mick Jagger is back on his feet after undergoing emergency heart surgery.

The 75-year-old rocker was forced to postpone the band's tour after a routine check-up revealed he needed an urgent heart valve replacement operation.

And he's now been pictured for the first time, looking fit and well as he enjoyed a sunny stroll.

Sharing a picture of himself stood by a flowering tree, he told fans he was taking, "A walk in the park!"

It comes after his younger brother Chris, 71, revealed he was lucky to be alive after the undetected heart condition - which killed The Clash star Joe Strummer - showed up on a scan.

“It happened to Joe. He came back from walking the dogs and his wife found him collapsed on the sofa. He had this valve problem," Chris told the Sunday People.

“His father died from it. It was hereditary. With Mick it came on a check-up.

“That is why when you get to a certain age they want to check for this, check for that. You get to 70, you got to be careful, you know.

“I’ve had a few health issues. At least he has not got to wait in line for the NHS.”

Mick thanked fans for their support on April 5 and revealed the surgery had been a success.

"I'm feeling much better now and on the mend - and also a huge thank you to all the hospital staff for doing a superb job," he wrote on Instagram.

It is not yet known when the band will continue their US tour, but Chris speculated that the incident might teach Mick to 'slow down'.
