Well, this is kind of ironic. Last week, Michigan State Men’s Basketball beat Albion 85-50 in their first game of the season, albeit an exhibition game. This week, Michigan State Women’s Basketball beat Eastern Michigan 85-50 in their first game of the season.
Suzy Merchant’s team went 11/27 from three (40.7%) on the night. Nia Clouden led the way with 23 points and 3 assists. Freshman Alyza Winston was a nice surprise as she added 14 while Taryn McCutcheon and Tory Ozment both notched 10 points.
On the Eastern side, Corrione Cardwell scored 13 and no one else made it to double digits, indicative of the Spartans big night defensively.
Michigan State will host Detroit this Friday at 7pm ET at the Breslin Center.
