Michigan State hockey defeats Notre Dame in Game 1, 5-2

Michigan State Notre Dame (Organization) Michigan State Hockey Hockey Spartans

No. 7 Michigan State welcomed Big Ten hockey rival No. 20 Notre Dame for a pivotal weekend series in East Lansing.

On a night the Spartans debuted Gruff Sparty uniforms, they put on a show for the home crowd. The Spartans beat Notre Dame, 5-2, while outshooting the Fighting Irish, 55-37.

The Spartans and Fighting Irish lock up for a Game 2 on Saturday night, when it will be “Star Wars” night at Munn Ice Arena.
