Michigan State football announces kickoff times for six games

NO NOON STARTS SO FAR!

Michigan State Football took to Twitter today to announce the kick times for six games this upcoming season.

Most notably there are no noon kicks on the slate yet. That’s a good thing for the tailgate life and prestige of the program. Everyone loves a good night game and more often than not good teams play later in the day. I’m sure a noon kick or two will be added depending on how the season goes, but still, no noon kicks off the bat is a good start.

Also notable are the kick times for Arizona State and Ohio State. MSU will host ASU at a 4 PM game nationally televised on Fox. It’s a little disappointing that won’t be a night game, as it would make a good spot for MSU to trot out the new neon uniforms that supposedly look better at night. However, the OSU game will be a nationally televised 7:30 kick on either ABC or ESPN. It’s certainly a long way off, but that could be a chance for a College Gameday event which is always fun and a big deal. Hopefully both teams are ranked and playing well at the time and we can get a lot of eyeballs on a big MSU road win.

MSU will also continue its “start the season at home on a Friday night” tradition, hosting Tulsa at 7:30 on August 30. That game will be on FS1.

All-in-all I’m pretty pleased with how the early kick times are scheduled, with the minor gripe that I wish ASU was also a night game.
