The preseason award watch list train just keeps rolling! We’ve written at length about all the Michigan State players who have been named to preseason award watch lists thus far, and now we continue with the award watch list for a position Michigan State usually excels with. The award is the Thorpe Award, given to the best defensive back in college football and Spartan Junior Josiah Scott has been named to that watch list.
Scott is one of 46 players on the Jim Thorpe Award Watch List. He is an interesting player to keep an eye on because he missed the first eight games of last season due to a knee injury he suffered during training camp. He came back and started the last five games of the year and immediately became an impact player on defense.
He was named the Redbox Bowl Defensive MVP after recording a career-high four pass break-ups to go with three tackles.
