Michelle Keegan says 'the secret's out' announcing new Netflix role

Michelle Keegan has announced a brand new career move. The former soap star, who played Tina McIntyre in Coronation Street for six years, has revealed she is taking on a brand new TV project which will see her in a completely different role to the ones fans have seen her in before.

Since leaving the ITV soap after her character's death in 2014, Michelle went on to play Sergeant Georgie Lane in the BBC drama series Our Girl and plays the ongoing role of Erin Croft in the hit Sky Comedy Brassic.

But the Stockport-born actress, who is married to former TOWIE star Mark Wright, has now announced fans will see her in a different light as she is set to star in a new Netflix thriller series, reports Manchester Evening News.

She revealed 'the secrets out' as she told her 6.4 million Instagram followers that she would be joining the cast of Fool Me Once, which is an adaptation of bestselling author Harlan Coben's book.

The author has created some of Netflix' biggest mystery dramas based on his novels including huge hits The Stranger, Stay Close and Safe.

Michelle announced the news to her followers with a photo of her posing at a poolside in a bikini with the bestselling book in hand. Another snap showed a sign which read 'Maya', indicating her character's name, as well as an exclusive photo of her filming in action.

Alongside the pictures @michkeegan wrote: "Finally the secrets out!! I'm over the moon to be joining the cast of FOOL ME ONCE, a @netflixuk thriller based on the book by the extremely talented @harlancoben. Here we gooooo …"

Michelle's friends, family and fans rushed to congratulate the 35-year-old on her exciting career move. This Morning presenter and The Saturdays singer Rochelle Humes wrote: "GO girl," as Made In Chelsea star Louise Thompson commented: "Well done," sharing heart emojis.

Mark Wright's cousin Elliot Wright, who also starred in TOWIE, wrote: "Well done, can’t wait to watch it," as Mark's mum Carol Wright added: "Here we go so excited to watch this you little star, a super star." Harlan Coben himself also added: "Here we go!!!," alongside love hearts and a flame emoji.

Earlier this month the actress shared how she had 'wrapped' on filming series five of Brassic and gave fans a taste of her latest work in front of the camera in a post to her Instagram grid.

Michelle wrote: "Wrap on Brassic season 5!!! Can’t believe how fast these past 6 months have gone, 6 months filled with chaotic mayhem, freezing cold locations and a whole lot of love & dedication. Feel so lucky to be working on such a special show. "Can’t wait for you guys to see what we’ve been up to. Big love as always."
