Michelin-starred chef at helm of Glasgow's Rioja gives sneak peak at re-vamped menu

Glasgow restaurant Rioja has given foodies a sneak peek of what to expect from the new concept - with a focus on tapas.

The Finnieston eatery, based on Argyle Street, will be led from Michelin-starred chef Miguel Angel Mayor - who enjoyed success at Sucede in Valencia.

Diners will be treated to a huge range of Spanish delicacies - from cured Iberian ham to a series of Valencian rice dishes.

The restaurant space has been reimagined and the kitchens have been completely refurbished to create a light filled, contemporary space that can seat up to 60 guests over two floors.

All of the design elements have been inspired by Spain’s picturesque coastline.

Chef Miguel Angel Mayor said: “Our food reflects the evolution of taste. Scotland, it’s people, it’s produce, and its history have always piqued my interest.

“Our menu at Rioja links the high quality of Scottish produce to the history of Spanish cuisine. A menu that constantly evolves and has no borders - a one-of-a-kind celebration of food, with flavours that showcase innovative techniques and Spanish gastronomy.”

Diners can book a table online now, with the restaurant open from midday on Monday through to Sunday.
