Michelin Guide 2021: The top East Lothian eateries that made the list

Last week, Michelin released their 2021 guide, which featured a host of some of the best restaurants throughout the UK.

In a huge boost for the city, a whopping 22 restaurants made the guide, from eateries such as The Scran and Sallie to others such as Aizle.

You can find the full list of Edinburgh restaurants in the guide here.

However, this year East Lothian was also well-praised, with four restaurants making it onto the exclusive recommendations life.

The first was none other than Osteria, who were given the Michelin Plate due to it's fantastic Italian dishes.

According to the guide, the North Berwick site "conjures up the right image of the food: honest, ‘nonna-style’ dishes that are authentically Italian to the core.”

The second was the Creel Restaurant, which also received a Michelin Plate. Speaking about the Dunbar restaurant, the guide stated:

"An unassuming, cosy former pub with wood-panelling on the walls and ceiling. The experienced chef creates good value, full-flavoured dishes using seafood fresh from the adjacent harbour. Service is friendly."

Third to be given the plate was La Potinière, who were highlighted for their fantastic owners, Mary and Keith.

The guide said: "An icon in the Scottish restaurant industry, this sweet little restaurant is run in a very personal way by owners Mary and Keith, who share the cooking.

"They offer a choice of two dishes per course; each prepared with care, pride and an ambitious edge. The wine list focuses on France."

Last but definitely not least was The Bonnie Badger, run by Tom and Michaela Kitchin, the restaurant was given the Bib Gourmand, a slightly more prestigious accolade.

The guide added: "Tom and Michaela Kitchin have created their version of a modern pub in a former coaching inn dating from 1836. The bar remains the hub while the dining room offers a menu of refined, boldly flavoured pub classics. Stylish bedrooms showcase Scottish designers and are both cosy and sublimely comfortable."
